Week 4

So last week was almost a total bust. I didn't feel like myself and definitely over indulged. Hey, it happens! But this week I got back on track. Today was the first day of the "Full Body Conditioning" workout from Rushfit. I seriously almost quit half way through because it was so intense. Not to mention, I've managed to pull my hamstring yet again. This happened during my previous boot camp classes too. If you've ever pulled a hammy, then you know exactly what kind of pain this is. I have a really hard time straightening my right leg because of this. I've still lost a few pounds from this, but more than that I've noticed things are starting to fit better. I've been able to wear some shirts my stomach wouldn't fit in last month. I also picked out my wedding dress, which fit so well even if I don't lose any more weight, I'll look great in it. I'm also trying to ween myself down to a more low-carb type diet. Which I've done in the past and it's worked wonders, but I would never recommend doing this for long periods of time. It can be dangerous if you do it too long and are too strict with it, not to mention you'll gain all the weight right back if you don't learn how to eat the right carbs. On Monday, I plan to post a picture of me mid-way and one before I started this. I want to see if I notice any sort of definition. TTFN!

Starting Weight in May - 178.8

Before starting Rushfit - 174.2

Weight today -172.2

Weight Lost - 6.6 lbs

Oh, so that's what sweat looks like!

First off, let me say I woke up to find my scale down another 1/2 lb! Yay! This has been such a slow process. I remember about 5 years ago, I could lose weight in a flash! Not so much anymore. Since May, I am officially down 5 lbs. I'll take it! Today was the first time I completed the "Fight Conditioning" video from RUSH FIT. It started off similar to kickboxing (aw, I remember the tae-bo days) but instantly got into fight sequences. This video was insane! I consider myself to be a very coordinated person, but found myself rewinding and slowing down the video. I just couldn't grasp the quick changing positions. This is definitely not the end for me. I will try again until I understand how to do this. I love a good challenge! The diet was pretty on target today. I had my rest last night and was pretty alert today. I did have to drink a rock-star energy drink in the afternoon because I think my lunch had far too many carbs, which can make you groggy. That's all for now!

We all have bad days...

It's truly amazing what lack of sleep does to your body. Beside being so irritable (along with the rest of NC) I was craving horrible things. I did have two things I probably shouldn't have. I mean, we all have days like this. It was just so strange the way it seemed like sugar was the only thing that made me happy today. My calorie count was still fairly low, but not as low as it should have been. I managed to have a healthy dinner (grilled chicken sandwich). Today was the first time I did the "bonus stretching video" from Rush Fit. It was very similar to yoga and lasted about 40 minutes. Then I took myself outside for 45 minutes of brisk walking. It was the perfect night for it! I'm sure glad I took an hour nap when I got home from work because I highly doubt I would have had the motivation to work out. Well, I'm heading off to bed in an attempt to get some good quality sleep. Lesson learned! Don't deprive yourself of sleep!

Game Plan

I have absolutely no problem sticking to an exercise program. Well, if it is short and sweet, that is. Last month I tried a Groupon deal at Evolution MMA. A group of friends and I met three times a week to endure a grueling 30 minute boot camp class with our trainer Eric (go see him). The class consisted of 30 minute, high intensity circuits. Some times we used weights, some times if was simply body weight. Regardless of what we did, it was intense. I managed to lose about 4 lbs. Then came time to renew and of course the price went up. The price is well worth it, but I discovered a program from my personal hero, Georges St. Pierre. No, he didn't create it, but he is front and center in all the videos. I found this reason enough to buy the Rush Fit program. ;) I am currently on day 3 and just finished 45 minutes of intense ab/core conditioning. The first 25 minutes of the workout was doable for someone that has a little fitness in their background. Then came the last 5 minutes. Omg! I kept thinking "WTF, this trainer (also named Eric) is insane!" We were instructed to do backbends, (which I was a pro at in my younger days) and this hands on the ground swing your body through into a v-sit and then back into a plank thing. Yea, I couldn't do it. I cannot hold my body weight up by my fists. Nope. Not this girl! However, I did my best! After the very first day I thought "Well, this isn't too bad." A lot of the moves in the first strength video were similar to things my previous trainers (Eric @ MMA & Scott @ CORE) had taught me. As I found on day 3, I was still in pain from that first day. So maybe the very first video was harder than I had thought. I have 7.5 weeks left on the program. Wish me luck!!! Oh, and 3 months to be in tip-top shape for my wedding.
